A new year, an exciting new beginning or at the very least a promise of one. In this moment, everything seems possible.
Everyone is all smiles. Faces are awashed with joy and happiness, hope and anticipation. Past hurts, mistakes, and everything bad is forgotten, at least temporarily as the countdown to 12 begins.
And the clock strikes 12! Excitement…, dancing…, Hugs everywhere, germs are having a filled day. We clink glasses and make toasts to the start of another year. We make calls to loved ones not near present.
Joy in the hearts of everyone.We made it to another year.
If one is a pessimist, you may still join in the celebration. Maybe because the excitement of the fireworks gets to you, or you just can’t miss up on having a good time or deep down you are actually hoping that something different happens in this new year.
Maybe that business deal pays up this year, or you finally get that contract you believe will take your business to the next level, or you finally meet the love of your life, or you finally start the family you desire… Everything seems achievable at the start of every year.
If you are a church folk you enter the year in prayer, praising and dancing. Believing that this year would be better than the outgoing. Rededicating and making commitments to your creator that you will do better this time.
A new year, is also a time for resolution makers to list resolutions that may be forgotten before the first month of the year is over. Still, it’s a new year. Just maybe this time those resolutions will be kept.
Just like a pregnant woman expecting, I look forward to 2019 with faith and hope. It’s a no-holds-barred year for me.
